Allentown School Disrict - Jackson Elementary School

A new 85,000 square foot elementary school is being constructed at 15th and Allen Streets in Allentown, adjacent to the existing Jackson Elementary School.  The Allentown School District acquired three adjacent parcels to accommodate construction of the new facility.  Designed by Roberson Butz Architects, it will accommodate 750 students and is organized into three distinct masses.  Each mass is composed of multiple "learning communities" for each grade level.

Exterior materials include brick, concrete block, aluminum curtain wall and storefront systems, and glazed brick accents.

The new Jacskon Elementary School will be LEED-certified through the U.S. Green Building Council.  The project has sustainable features such as green roofs, reduction of existing impervious areas, native planting, exterior sunshades, energy efficient mechanical and lighting systems, water-efficient plumbing fixtures, recycled/regional materials, abundant daylighting and curriculum enrichment opportunities for students.
